Mike Farrell, a political and social
activist best known for his portrayal of Army Capt. B.J. Hunnicutt in
the TV-series "M*A*S*H" and Dr. Jim Hansen in the weekly NBC series
“Providence,” is the president of Death Penalty Focus.
As a host and narrator of documentaries, Farrell has talked about
alcoholism, arms control, caring for the environment, children of
divorce, child sexual abuse, the death penalty, and enriching the lives
of the disabled.
Mike has also been actively involved over the years with the American
Indian Movement, the American Civil Liberties Union, the United Farm
Workers Union, Amnesty International, Special Olympics, Greenpeace and
many organizations dealing with spousal abuse, child abuse, veterans
rights, the environment and animal welfare. Since 1979 he has been
spokesperson for CONCERN/America, an international refugee aid and
development organization. In this capacity he has visited refugee camps
in Asia and Central America and helped with disseminating information
about CONCERN/America's work across the globe.
Mike also served on the board of directors of the National Coalition to
Abolish the Death Penalty and is the former co-chair of the California
Committee of Human Rights Watch.
